JioBlackRock launches Prism Hybrid Long-Short Fund, opens NFO for new Specialized Investment Fund

Mumbai, June 29, 2026: JioBlackRock Asset Management Private Limited, the 50:50 joint venture between Jio Financial Services Limited (JFSL) and BlackRock Inc., has announced the launch of the Prism Hybrid Long-Short Fund, a Specialized Investment Fund (SIF) designed to offer investors a diversified strategy across equity, debt, derivatives and alternative investment opportunities.

The New Fund Offer (NFO) for the fund opened on June 29 and will remain available until July 13, 2026. Structured as an interval investment strategy, the fund allows investors to redeem their investments twice a week, offering a balance between liquidity and long-term investment opportunities.

The Prism Hybrid Long-Short Fund aims to generate long-term capital appreciation along with income by investing in a diversified portfolio comprising equity and equity-related instruments, debt and money market securities, derivative-based strategies and alternative opportunities. These include merger arbitrage, collars, Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs) and special situation investments.

According to the fund house, the strategy seeks to deliver improved risk-adjusted returns while maintaining lower portfolio volatility and drawdowns through a combination of long positions, limited short exposure via derivatives and fixed-income allocations.

The launch comes amid heightened volatility in Indian equity markets and increasing divergence in stock and sector performance. In such an environment, investors are looking for investment solutions capable of generating returns across varying market conditions while effectively managing downside risks.

The fund will be benchmarked against the NIFTY 50 Hybrid Composite Debt 50:50 Index (TRI).

JioBlackRock said the investment strategy combines BlackRock’s global expertise in alternative investments with the local market experience of JioBlackRock’s investment team. The strategy is supported by advanced signal research, big data analytics, machine learning tools and risk management capabilities licensed from BlackRock, including its globally recognized Aladdin® investment platform.

Commenting on the launch, Sid Swaminathan, Managing Director and CEO of JioBlackRock Asset Management, said Indian investors are increasingly moving beyond traditional investment approaches as markets become more dynamic and portfolios become more outcome-oriented.

“Specialized Investment Funds represent an important evolution in India’s investment landscape, offering access to sophisticated investment strategies within a transparent and SEBI-regulated framework. Through the Prism Hybrid Long-Short Fund, we aim to bring institutional-quality investment capabilities to Indian investors by combining BlackRock’s global systematic investing expertise with deep local market insights,” he said.

Rishi Kohli, Chief Investment Officer of JioBlackRock Asset Management, said today’s investment environment requires greater flexibility than conventional equity and fixed-income strategies can provide.

“The Prism Hybrid Long-Short Fund has been designed to identify opportunities across market cycles by combining equities, derivatives, fixed income and differentiated investment sleeves within a disciplined risk-management framework. By actively managing both risk and opportunity, we seek to enhance risk-adjusted returns while reducing the impact of market volatility in a tax-efficient manner,” Kohli said.

The fund has a minimum investment requirement of ₹10 lakh, in line with the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s Specialized Investment Fund framework. It will be available under both Direct and Regular plans with a Growth option and will support lump-sum investments as well as Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs), Systematic Transfer Plans (STPs) and Systematic Withdrawal Plans (SWPs).

JioBlackRock Asset Management said the fund is intended for investors seeking diversified exposure through a professionally managed strategy that can adapt to changing market conditions.

The company also cautioned that investments in Specialized Investment Funds carry relatively higher risks, including potential capital loss, liquidity risks and market volatility. Investors are advised to carefully read all scheme-related documents before making investment decisions.

JioBlackRock Asset Management is a joint venture between JFSL and BlackRock and aims to combine Jio’s digital ecosystem and reach with BlackRock’s global investment expertise and risk management capabilities to provide technology-driven investment solutions for Indian investors.
