Kotak Mutual Fund launches Nifty 500 Index Fund for broad-based equity exposure

Mumbai, October 5, 2026: Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company Ltd. (KMAMC), the investment manager of Kotak Mutual Fund, has launched the Kotak Nifty 500 Index Fund, an open-ended index fund that will track the Nifty 500 Index, subject to tracking error.

The New Fund Offer (NFO) opens on October 5, 2026, and will close on October 19, 2026.

The scheme will follow a passive investment strategy and seek to replicate the composition of the Nifty 500 Index. It will provide investors with exposure to large-cap, mid-cap and small-cap companies through a single fund.

Commenting on the launch, Nilesh Shah, Managing Director, Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company, said India’s equity opportunity is becoming increasingly broad-based, spanning sectors, industries and market-cap segments. According to him, the Kotak Nifty 500 Index Fund provides investors with a simple way to participate in this broad opportunity through a diversified portfolio tracking a single index.

The Nifty 500 Index comprises companies across various sectors and market-cap segments and represents approximately 87% of India’s listed market capitalisation.

Kotak Mutual Fund said India’s long-term growth story is supported by structural factors including urbanisation, policy reforms, industrial expansion, favourable demographics, digital transformation, healthy corporate balance sheets and the growth of the services economy.

Satish Dondapati, Fund Manager, Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company, said investors looking for broad equity-market exposure often need to allocate separately across different market-cap segments. The Nifty 500 Index brings established companies and emerging businesses together in a single portfolio, he said.

According to Dondapati, the Kotak Nifty 500 Index Fund provides diversified participation in India’s evolving equity market through a simple, disciplined and passive investment approach.
