Mumbai, June 15, 2026: Kotak Mutual Fund has announced the launch of its first Specialised Investment Fund (SIF), the Kotak Infinity Hybrid Long-Short Fund, marking the fund house’s entry into SEBI’s newly introduced SIF category. The New Fund Offer (NFO) opens on June 15, 2026, and closes on June 29, 2026.
The SIF category has been introduced to bridge the gap between traditional mutual funds and more sophisticated investment vehicles such as Portfolio Management Services (PMS) and Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs). These funds offer greater flexibility in portfolio construction while operating within SEBI’s regulatory framework.
The Kotak Infinity Hybrid Long-Short Fund will employ a dynamic investment strategy combining long-only equity positions, permitted short exposures, and arbitrage opportunities. The fund aims to manage varying market conditions by actively adjusting net equity exposure while maintaining a strong focus on risk management and downside protection. However, investors should note that there is no assurance that the fund’s objectives will be achieved or that it will generate consistent returns across market cycles.
Nilesh Shah, Nilesh Shah, said, “Mutual funds have created significant wealth through disciplined long-only investing. SIFs represent a natural evolution, offering greater flexibility through long-short strategies to navigate market cycles more effectively. With experience in managing hybrid strategies, the Infinity Hybrid Long-Short Fund is positioned to provide an additional approach to investing, with a focus on disciplined portfolio construction and risk management.”
Kalpesh Jain, Kalpesh Jain, added, “SIFs enable a more flexible approach to portfolio construction while maintaining a strong focus on risk management. The Infinity Hybrid Long-Short Fund will invest across equities, arbitrage opportunities and select derivative strategies, dynamically managing net equity exposure. The objective is to participate in market upside while aiming to reduce drawdowns during volatile market conditions.”
The launch underscores Kotak Mutual Fund’s efforts to develop innovative investment solutions aligned with evolving investor requirements. The fund seeks to offer a differentiated investment approach within the mutual fund ecosystem while emphasizing disciplined investing and risk management.
