Munify Launches Municipal Infrastructure Financing Platform to Accelerate Urban Infrastructure Investment

Bengaluru, August 18, 2026: Munify, India’s first national municipal finance data and analytics platform, has launched its Municipal Infrastructure Financing Platform, a digital marketplace aimed at connecting Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) with banks, financial institutions, development finance institutions (DFIs), investors and grant providers.

Developed in partnership with Dvara Solutions, the platform brings together Munify’s municipal finance expertise, data, analytics and proprietary credit intelligence with digital tools that enable municipalities and financing institutions to discover, evaluate and engage on urban infrastructure projects.

Bridging the urban infrastructure financing gap

India’s rapid urbanisation is creating significant demand for investment in urban infrastructure. The country is estimated to require around US$840 billion in urban infrastructure investment by 2036, rising to nearly US$2.4 trillion by 2050.

However, expenditure by Urban Local Bodies remains below 1% of GDP, compared with around 8–14% in many developed economies. The gap highlights the limited fiscal capacity of Indian cities and the need to mobilise greater institutional and private capital for urban infrastructure.

The financing challenge has become more significant following the introduction of the Government of India’s Urban Challenge Fund (UCF). Nearly ₹1 lakh crore of central assistance is expected to catalyse close to ₹4 lakh crore of urban infrastructure investment, with cities expected to mobilise around 50% of project financing from market sources.

The shift is expected to increase the role of market-linked financing in India’s urban infrastructure development.

Connecting municipalities and financiers

While significant institutional capital is available, many ULBs face challenges in developing bankable projects, reaching multiple financing institutions and managing the financing process efficiently. At the same time, lenders and investors can find it difficult to identify credible municipal projects and access standardised financial and project information.

Munify’s new platform seeks to address this information and access gap by bringing these stakeholders onto a common digital ecosystem.

Built on Munify’s database covering more than 250 municipal corporations, the platform integrates municipal financial analytics, proprietary credit scores and grades, project information, documentation, lender engagement and financing workflows.

As the technology partner, Dvara Solutions has developed the digital architecture and workflows supporting project discovery, information exchange, lender engagement, funding commitments and subsequent project updates.

The platform allows municipalities to showcase infrastructure projects, share financial and project information, respond to queries and provide project updates. Banks, DFIs, NBFCs, impact investors, municipal bond investors and grant providers can use the platform to discover opportunities across geographies and sectors.

Financing institutions can also review standardised municipal and project information, access Munify’s financial analytics and credit insights, request additional documentation and engage directly with ULBs.

Selected for AMRUT India Pitch Pilot Challenge

The platform has also been selected under the AMRUT India Pitch Pilot Challenge, an initiative of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), for pilot implementation with ULBs.

Munify said the pilot will help demonstrate the platform’s potential to improve access to financing and strengthen the process of funding urban infrastructure projects.

The company aims to facilitate financing for urban infrastructure projects worth more than ₹20,000 crore over the next two years by improving project visibility and transparency, widening access to financing institutions and reducing information gaps and transaction costs.

‘Cities do not lack projects, they lack efficient access to financing’

Commenting on the launch, K. Subalakshmi, Founder & CEO, Munify, said, “India’s cities do not lack projects—they often lack efficient access to financing. Our objective is to make infrastructure projects visible, credible, and finance-ready through a common digital marketplace that benefits both cities and financing institutions.”

She added that as urban financing increasingly shifts towards market-based mechanisms, technology can help reduce information gaps, improve transparency and accelerate funding decisions.

Vijay Chand, Managing Director & CEO, Dvara Solutions, said technology can play an important role in making complex financing ecosystems more accessible and efficient.

“Our work with Munify has been focused on building the digital foundation that translates its deep municipal finance expertise into intuitive and structured journeys for municipalities and financing institutions,” he said.

According to Chand, the platform’s ability to support project discovery, information exchange and stakeholder engagement through a scalable digital ecosystem can help make municipal infrastructure financing more transparent and efficient.

The Municipal Infrastructure Financing Platform is now live, allowing ULBs and financing institutions to connect around urban infrastructure financing opportunities.
