Equirus Capital, a prominent Indian financial services group, has announced the appointment of Mitu Samarnath Jha and Alok Misra as Independent Directors on its board. The appointments are aimed at enhancing the company’s governance framework and strategic leadership, further reinforcing its commitment to transparency and robust corporate oversight.
Mitu Samarnath Jha currently serves as the CEO of Eminence Strategy Consulting, a firm specializing in strategic communication, reputation management, and thought-leadership advisory. With more than two decades of experience in the corporate communications and financial services space, she has previously worked with organizations such as CRISIL, Standard & Poor’s, Aditya Birla Capital, ICICI Prudential AMC, and Great Eastern Shipping.
After gaining extensive industry experience, she founded Eminence Strategy Consulting. In addition to her new role at Equirus Capital, she also serves as an Independent Director on the boards of Times Internet Limited, Shree Digvijay Cement Company Limited, and Peninsula Land Ltd.
Alok Misra recently co-founded Guvrn, a platform described as India’s first curated board network designed to connect independent directors with companies seeking to strengthen governance practices. Until June 2024, he served as Operating Partner and Chief Operating Officer for India at General Atlantic, a global growth equity firm, where he provided financial and strategic guidance for the firm’s investments across India and the ASEAN region.
Prior to General Atlantic, Misra built a distinguished career in corporate finance. He served as Group CFO at WNS, a global business process management company, where he played a key role in the company’s growth and transformation. Earlier, he was also the Group CFO of Mphasis BFL Group and held senior finance and accounting roles at ITC Limited and PwC.
A Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Misra holds an honours degree in commerce from Calcutta University and currently serves as a Non-Executive or Independent Director on several private and public company boards.
Commenting on the appointments, Ajay Garg, Managing Director of Equirus Group, said the addition of Jha and Misra would significantly strengthen the company’s leadership and governance structure. He noted that their experience in working closely with boards and key stakeholders will help guide the organization toward its next phase of growth while maintaining high governance standards.
