New Delhi, December 09, 2025: In a major community outreach effort aimed at strengthening access to education for young girls, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and ROADIS, a global infrastructure leader headquartered in Madrid, jointly organized a bicycle distribution drive across Varanasi, Surat and Ajmer. Nearly 100 deserving girl students from 10 schools in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat were provided bicycles to help them overcome mobility challenges and continue their education without interruption.
The latest ceremony, held in Varanasi on December 9, brought together senior officials from NHAI, including Sh. Vishal Chauhan, IAS (Member Administration), Shri S. Rajalingam (Commissioner, Varanasi Division), Sh. N.L. Yeotkar (Regional Officer – Bihar), Shri Pankaj Kumar Maurya (Regional Officer – UP East), Sh. R.K. Verma (Project Director, PIU Sasaram) and Shri Arun Kumar (Project Director, PIU Varanasi).
Speaking at the event, Sh. Vishal Chauhan highlighted NHAI’s focus on inclusive development along national highways. He said, “Ensuring safe and equitable mobility for every citizen—particularly young girls—is integral to our commitment to community upliftment. This initiative helps remove a critical barrier to education and empowers students to pursue their goals with confidence. Efforts like this reinforce meaningful, long-term impact across communities we serve.”
Sharing ROADIS’ vision, Sh. Alvaro Santos, Head – India SBU, said that the company remains committed to improving the quality of life around its projects. “Our purpose goes beyond building infrastructure—we aim to develop the communities around us. The bicycle donation drive is a reflection of our belief in enabling safer mobility and supporting the educational aspirations of young girls. We are grateful for NHAI’s continuous partnership in creating initiatives with real impact on the ground,” he stated.
The bicycle initiative is part of ROADIS’ ‘Shikshaantra Plus’ program, which is operational in 10 schools across India. The program promotes holistic education through improved learning infrastructure, digital support, capacity building and equal opportunities for students.
