In a remarkable celebration of India’s unity in diversity, the Embassy of India in Dublin hosted the first-ever cultural event dedicated exclusively to Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, as part of its State Cultural Event Series. The event, inspired by the vision of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, brought the spirit, traditions, and beauty of India’s northernmost regions to the heart of Ireland.
🌄 Showcasing the Soul of the Himalayas
The vibrant cultural evening featured a multi-media presentation capturing the rich historical, cultural, culinary, craft, and tourism heritage of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
Audiences were treated to traditional folk dances, a Kashmiri poetry recital, and an impressive display of handwoven textiles and intricate handicrafts — reflecting the timeless artistry and grace of the region.
🗣️ Ambassador Akhilesh Mishra’s Remarks
Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Shri Akhilesh Mishra, Ambassador of India to Ireland, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Kashmiri diaspora community in Dublin — a small but spirited group of about 200 members — for their enthusiastic support in organizing this landmark event.
He described Kashmir’s cultural fabric as a living embodiment of India’s syncretic, inclusive, and multi-cultural ethos, a reflection of the deep-rooted philosophy of coexistence and spirituality that defines Indian civilization.
The Ambassador also acknowledged the pain endured by the people of Jammu & Kashmir due to decades of cross-border terrorism and extremist ideologies, but emphasized the positive transformation since the abrogation of Article 370, highlighting renewed tourism, economic growth, and emotional integration with the rest of India.
📜 Honouring Kashmir’s Philosophical Legacy
Ambassador Mishra lauded the ongoing initiatives to revive the ancient Sharda script and translate Kashmiri literature into Hindi, including the recent translation of the Kashmiri Ramayana.
He also emphasized the growing global interest in Kashmir Shaivism, referencing the works of philosopher Abhinavagupta and the revered saint-poetess Lal Ded, whose message of pure devotion continues to inspire people across boundaries.
🌏 State Cultural Event Series — Strengthening Cultural Bridges
The Ambassador reminded that the State Cultural Event Series, launched by the Embassy in September 2023, aims to showcase the diverse cultural tapestry of India to the Irish audience.
So far, 18 Indian states have been featured under this initiative, each celebrating the idea of “Unity in Incredible Diversity.”
🎉 A Celebration of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’
The event in Dublin marked a significant milestone in India’s cultural diplomacy in Ireland — not only strengthening bonds with the Indian diaspora but also offering Irish guests a glimpse into the soulful harmony of India’s regional identities.
In essence, the evening stood as a tribute to the timeless beauty, resilience, and spiritual depth of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh — regions that continue to symbolize the unity, diversity, and eternal essence of Bharat. 🇮🇳💫
